A QUANTITATIVE APPROACH TO PROBLEM SOLVING WEBINAR

A quantitative approach to problem solving focuses on using data to guide decision making. This helps improve the problem-solving process by:

-Making decisions in a uniform way based off common data sources
-Eliminating personal bias from the decision – making process

If done properly, quantitative analysis can allow for predicting the impact of a decision before implementing a change and measuring the impact after the change is implemented

Time dedicated to PI is finite and choosing which interventions to pursue requires thoughtful attention. Patient stories and personal experiences may help identify a problem, but these anecdotes should be paired with quantitative data to inform actions.

This webinar is designed to help stroke program leaders, coordinators, navigators and data specialists of all experience levels develop a higher-level understanding of the relationship between process improvement (PI) and quantitative decision-making.

During this 50-minute session, we discuss quantitative approaches to problem solving focusing on using data to guide decision making while discussing examples of situations coordinators face daily.

Several methods to identify where interventions are needed and effective ways to prioritize ideas or identified interventions.  Included is process mapping, cause and effect analysis, root cause analysis, pareto analysis and PICK charts. many aspects data analysis and best display charts.

The “star” of this webinar is Pareto charts. Participants learn how to build a Pareto chart and when to use one for performance improvement. The objectives include:

-Understand the relationship between process improvement (PI) and quantitative decision-making
-Describe when to use certain process improvement methodologies or tools to analyze data and trends
-Explore Pareto analysis as a PI tool
-Learn when to use a Pareto analysis to guide your PI efforts
-Design a Pareto chart in Excel

Customers will receive the webinar slide deck, an Excel spreadsheet template and instructions to build a Pareto chart (using data in the Excel spreadsheet or using your own data).
