A Guide to Understanding the 2024 Joint Commission Stroke Center Updates

The Joint Commission (TJC) released Pre-publication Standards for Stroke Centers. The updates for each level of certification will go into effect for TJC-certified centers in January 2024.

The updates were fairly extensive and include some significant changes.

This guide is our interpretation of the Pre-publication Requirements issued by The Joint Commission in July 2023. They go into effect for all levels of stroke center certification in January 2024.

Here we have synthesized these standard updates to facilitate a systematic review across all levels of certification: Acute Stroke Ready Hospital (ASRH), Primary Stroke Center (PSC), Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center (TSC) and Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC).

The nominal fee simply helps offset our time and effort to put this “user-friendly” summary together.
